is just a beginning....!!!
"Stunning.... unforgettable Characters and Brilliant Plot Twists*  - By Kathy Reichs
Jeppe Kørner and Anette Werner have been put on the case of a young woman brutally murdered in her apartment.  The woman, Julie, was discovered with intricate lines carved into her face.  The owner of the building, Esther, has aspirations of becoming a novelist.  It turns out her first novel features a beautiful, young woman who is murdered....and intricate lines are carved into her face.  Who could want to frame Esther?  How is she connected to the murder?

The Tenant is a fantastic Nordic Noir debut.  For me, the beginning of the book was a bit slow burn.  Action does pick up towards the middle of the book, but the beginning is a lot of character and plot development.  The plot is intricate and twisty.  I loved Katrine Engberg’s writing style.  There were times when I was laughing out loud, but the tension was still mounting.

The relationship between Anette and Jeppe was probably my favorite part of the book.  They’re like the odd couple.  Jeppe is struggling with personal demons and Anette....tries to show him dog videos.  Their conversations are where I was most likely to snort laugh.  For me, the comedic relief in the dark and gritty books is so important to their success.

If you like a gritty police procedural, you’ll probably enjoy this one.  It looks like it’s going to be a series.  I can’t wait to continue with it.
